chouette doubling

To make this a theoretical discussion, assume that everyone in a
chouette plays perfectly.  However, suppose that on exactly one
occasion, the captain of the team, who has access to the cube, makes a
suboptimal decision.  Suppose the captain doubles when a hold would be
better, or holds when a double would be better.  If a teammate of the
captain does not follow the captain's action, the teammate will lose
equity whenever the checker play depends on the cube position because
the captain will look after his/her own interests.  My question now
is:  How bad does the captain's cube decision have to be before the
teammates should contradict the captain's cube action?  For example,
if the captain is wrong by 0.001, it is surely theoretically correct
to follow the captain because you will lose more equity on average by
the possibility of the following checker play being against your
interests.
