Backgammon has certainly endured bad press in recent months. The fact that
players are talking about how bad online BG is, is enough to suggest that
BG
needs a positive injection.
A Backgammon Academy (open to all), a non-profit organisation whose
mission
statement is to promote BG on many fronts.
I would like to see a future where players of all ages, backgrounds are
given the op****tunity to improve (with guidance), given an opprtunity to
attend some of the biggest BG events in the world. A place where players
can meet, talk about BG, learn BG; enroll on a BG course etc.
BG needs a recast of a different shadow; one in which that steers away
from
the st*****ypical view that BG is simply a gambling game where there are
winners and losers.
Such an academy would allow everyone to win; even BG.
I know realistically that not everyone would be able to attend such an
academy, so there should be an online meeting place etc.
Such an organisation would benefit from second hand BG books, mags,
articles
even software. If there is enough interest then there could be a joining
fee of $1 - $5 dollars and a yearly renewal fee of $1.
My motivation in all of this, is simply to see it happen one day.
Dreams of yesteryear could be tomorrow's reality.
