That example I gave that broke Torex, with red and white stripes
spiraling side by side around the torus and each forming closed loops
(the candy cane bracelet) could be avoided by only allowing black to
form such a closed loop with a right handed spiral and only allowing
white to form such a loop using a left handed spiral.
I just thought of this a minute ago and I'm on the run here snatching
a moment on my girlfriend's work computer, so I haven't put a lot of
thought into this.
