I am experiencing some news server problems at the moment but here' a
brief
introduction to the other Game for December - Magic Fly by Electronic
Arts.
I decided to check out this game mainly because EOA has a certain
reputation
for quality Amiga games.
I am also a fan of Descent games and when I read Magic Fly was about
flying a
spacecraft in the 3D tunnels inside an asteroid while destroying enemies
and
completing missions I became very interested. In a way, Magic Fly fills
that
promise - it may not look as fancy a Descent, but one could say this was
a sort
of predecessor (and maybe even an inspiration) to that classic.
The game uses either filled or wire-frame graphics (this can be changed
any
time during the game). You fly your vessel through the tunnel and defend
yourself against various enemies while looking after condition of your
****p.
There is a handy automapper which allows you to navigate through the
asteroid and also pinpoint those precious fuel depots. You can also save
the
game on those fuel depots, so you don't have to complete the game on one
sitting.
I shall end this introduction with the mission objectives of you, the
pilot of
Magic Fly:
1) Locate and neutralise The Communications Centre, Reactor Core,
Missile
Defense System and Computer Centre.
2) Scan all enemy craft to obtain information about them
3) Find the 'Inner Sanctum' inside the asteroid and scan the new enemy
super fighter Moth before destroying it.
4) Find the Atomic Sledgehammer and use it :)
5) Escape the planetoid before it explodes
Prepare Magic Fly for the drop. Re****t your progress here in
c.s.a.games.
Carry on, pilots, and good luck! :)
Bye,
Seppo
