Update - I did get some play time in today and took over my first island! 
Unfortunately, I saw 3 fall under enemy control during this time.  Not
good. 
A quick question for you all - I'm playing this game using WinUAE.  It 
appears that in order to save the game, one must "insert" a floppy into 
"DF0:" and select 1 of 4 slots in which to save the game.  I've tried
saving 
to a couple of different locations; sometimes it works and some times
things 
don't seem to work right.  Can I save to my virtual hard drive instead?

Now to go back and read some older posts to see what I've been missing.
