Living dinosaur? Hmmm, you could patch your A500 for a real MB of
Chipmen, getting lost of that braking Slow-RAM (Which is the ChipRAM in
fact, but it can't be fast as FastRAM, not even when you have, like in
your case just a 16bit RAM AMIGA, don't worry, the 68000 can do 32bit
but can only address a 16bit Area, which means max. 16MB of CPU-RAM,
8MB in the AMIGA, the Atari-ST can go to 14MB for example, leaving 2MB
for other addressing purposes like extension cards which also need an
address-range, in the case of AMIGA, 8MB were left for RAM extension
and 8MB can be addressed too, but not for RAM, AFAIK), then giving it
some extra FastRAM, 2, 4, 6 or 8MB, integrating an IDE-Controller
onboard, taking a nice some GB Notebook HD, placing it into the A500
Case too. Loading the whole Bunch of Games on the Platter and have fun
by playing great Games, some with HD-Installer, some with one/two
disks. You can easily de-dms, or de-archive the games into RAM, or HD,
make disks for playing, installing it, etc. All on the A500 w/o
Turbocard.
Allthough, I would suggest Kickstart 3.1 (ROM, e.g. similar to Bios)
and the Workbench 3.1. A FastRAM outfitted A500 with Kick3.1 is not to
understimate (it's not sooo slow), and gives you (3.1) some more
capabilities over file-handling etc... just the better and more modern
OS than 1.3, but 'virtually needless' when only playing official (the
known one, old one...) Games.
Then you need a Kickstart Switch Board, with at least 1.3 and 3.1 on
it. For full compatibility, Games of ~1985 or older, and possibly newer
one too, I would take 1.2, 1.3 and not to forget the 3.1, for much
easier (faster!!) workbench operations. Forget 2.04 (sloooooww), 3.1 is
the same and better (fast!, OS 3.9 is even faster, but needs a MMU
AMIGA CPU 68020 with 68851 (which is the MMU), at least, 030 040 and
060 do have the MMU integrated, EC-types of 020 and 030 do not have
MMU, EC040 is just w/o FPU, which was firstly integrated into the
MC68040, MC and XC68060 always have the FPU, and MMU, ~1993/1994).
You see, the AMIGA is Antique old, when just looking to the Years :-)
I had a 486/100 at that times of the first 060's. I always took the
AMIGA for rendering "Lightwave" data ;-)
By the way.... I can run virtually any name of Game for the PC. DOS,
WIN95 and so on, but I have to change the OS to DOS6 and can then run
anything from 1977 up to date, with sound, VGA, SVGA, everything.
Modern PC's can't. They dont do Sound in DOS and the other Emulation
(DosBox) is also not a Gameplay, more a cheese-cooking (lagging!), with
wrong sound-emulation. Obviously useless.
Also the AMIGA Emulators under Windows or Linix... forget it :) (even
more worse... du to other machine, other code to emulate....)
Well, as told. I am very satisfied with my IBM-PC (GhZ class, with a
nice tzekendlevel Caatch) :), but I am not really satified with my
A4000.
Maybe I will change my 060 Board (when I find an Idiot), to a 040, or
even 030 Board. That would be also fast enough, but would give me more
compatibility, especially the 030, which is IMO the most compatible
faster CPU for the AMIGA series.
E.g. the A2630 Turbocard is the most compatible turbocard for the A2000
I have ever seen, IMHO. You can alternatively disable the whole 030
thing and let your A2000 operate with the on the Mainboard sitting
68000. Of course with all Zorro Cards inside operating, too. So you can
start also any titles....
A2000 is good choice. It makes less stress and Turbocards are working.
Not all, maybe we can see then, when you choosed one.
The Blizzard 2060 I had, I can suggest with a five Stars out of five
Stars. The best 060 Card I have ever met, indeed. Also with such
turning-off option like on the A2630 and with fantastic stability in
060, MMU working properly, SCSI Circuit marvelous, I couldn't believe,
I was so happy at that times (~1995).
Yeah, I have had change, from A4000 (1994) to A2000 (1995). Now I have
an empty A2000 and an annoying A4000, again :-|
I look always for troubles and give away the best working things ;-)

On the other side. The Zorro-III performance (e.g. GfX) of the
A3000/4000 series is nice and I wouldn't like to miss.
I don't know where you surf and what pages you visit. The Amiga can be
plenty for surfing the Internet (<=020 CPU, though), but can be too
less when you want Flash, Online Shopping, Real Audio, Quicktime and
other varietes.
Good programmed www pages can be visited easily with an AMIGA, even
with a plain A500, and let's say, some 16bit FastRAM. (You'll need the
ChipRAM ;-)). ~ +31% Performance, having some FastRAM, you'll recognize
it on the first...

P.S.: I have two, beside the PC. One for faster things and one for full
compatibility, in fact an A2000 with 8MB Fast, 2MB Chip and a
SCSI-Controller on one Zorro-II Card.
P.P.S.: AMIGA OS were always programmed 32bit. With 32bit FastRAM you
directly benefit from the Code, without rewriting it ;-), 16Bit needs
two-time access to get a 32bit Longword. 68060 was never really
sup****ted, whether by Commodore nor AMIGA, be prepared for some
adventures if you would like such. The 040 is quiet faster than a 030
but makes more compatibility troubles, too, but is sup****ted officially
"with a patch".
The 060 patch patches the 040 patch, etc.
