Hi Inabón Yunes!
An A4000 would do Internet. GfX Card recommended...
Although, it depends what you need. An A500 Std. wouldn't make you
happy, it crawls at higher resolutions. An A500 with a daughterboard
(gives Zorro Slots to an A500), a let's say 68040 25MHz or more
Turbocard, and a Zorro-II GfX Card which will work with such an updated
A500, should to the work, but don't expect fast true-color if you need
more than 256 Colors.
But even my 768MB PC have it's limits in Internet. I can't open Hubble
Space Telescope TIFF's (up to 1GB big :-), with a very very high res,
9000x7000 and so...)
If you would like to use an AMIGA only for Usenet makes it not easier.
I don't know which line you have into Internet, but even if you would
have only 64K ISDN, you will meet an I/O bottleneck. Well, you could
outfit an Zorro-Expansion capable AMIGA (A2000, A3000, A4000, or a
Keyboard AMIGA with a proper daughterboard, as seen with many A1200
Tower) with a HighSpeed Serial (115200 baud, like the std. PC COM1,
COM2, etc.). But even that would limit your throughput, as you can
exceed the 64K by Hardware Compression, which works nice with NNTP Data
:)
Well, also I limit my bandwidth. My COM1 is working on the limit, when
I poll for News ;-) (64K ISDN, The MoDem could do DTE 230400 and 460800
baud, too!)
O.K. but 460800 baud capable cards for tha AMIGA are available. With a
proper modern IDE-Controller onboard, too. ;-)!
Or Network cards.... Working in ANY! Zorro Slot. Also 100Mbit is
planned, 10Mbit is available.
What do you need :-), everything there...
I can't help you so. You would have to specify your questions a bit.
Would you like to tune your A500 and have fun by learning Electrics
etc.?
Would you just like to buy a stronger AMIGA (A4000 etc.)?
Best regards,
Daniel Mandic
P.S.: Even Video Games by AMIGA can benefit when you have a TurboCard.
Don't forget some 32bit Fast-RAM (4-8MB, enough for the Games and most
Apps)
Elite II for example runs nice with OS3.9 and the installed 'CLOANTO'
Workbench 3.X, on my A4000. Hint: The PC Version crashes more with this
specific Game ;)...
