Is it so that you can only save the game while on "home base"? 
If I for example want to save the game after each mission (mainly 
because it is so easy to die because of VarSings) I would have to 
travel back to homeworld before embarking into another mission?

So if I want to just play the missions (and forget the strategic side) I
should 
crank it up to 99%?
