I'm running on the same machine as you (Iyonix 5.11), but
I think I may have missed trying the tutorial on the latest
wesnoth. I'm successfully running the Heir to the
Throne campaign

I'll retry the tutorial and see if I get the same fault.
If you have the time you could look for two files called
stdout and stderr in the !Wesnoth directory and send
them to me as they may give me a clue what has
happened.
(I suspect I won't get a chance to look at anything
until the New Year now though).
