Heightmaps using Perlin Noise?

by rayofash@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Jul 26, 2007 at 06:54 PM

I've made threads about it here:

http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23045

http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=456737

Basically I got the code from here:
http://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/models/m_perlin.htm

to compile, but now I have no idea how to use it. I want it to
generate heightmaps which I could then record to a text file and
compress (I plan on making a lot of these) and later I could
uncompress and apply to a 3D model (a sphere). So it would look
something like Populous.
