Actually there was a Gamasutra article about that issue. They were talking
about the quality of in-game graphics to in-game sound if I remember
correctly. I assume this rule applies across the board from the Studios
and
Indies to the Freeware developers. If you want to make your game stand out
apply it. Of course having a good design in the first place will get you
further than presentation level anyday.
