Onboard audio

by "fabiomayo" <fabiomayo@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 21, 2005 at 05:02 PM

Hi everyone.
I=B4m a beginner putting together a new system: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (FSB

400MHz), Abit AN7, RAM Kingston 512Mb DDR 400, PowerColor Radeon
9600Pro 256Mb, HD Samsung 80 Gb ide, PowerSupply SevenTeam 420W.
My question is: Should I use the onboard Realtek ALC658 AC'97 6-channel

audio or my very old SoundBlaster Live! Platinum ?
My computer is used to work (office, coreldraw, plus specific software
for mapping and mathematical calculations), a bit of gaming and some
low-quality home recording for musical studies purpose only (and a tad
of fun, i might add).
I=B4m specially worried about the last. Does the onboard audio has
decent analog to digital conversion?, will it push my system too hard?,

do I get same quality and ease of operation?

I really would appreciate any thoughts on that matter.

Thank you all. These groups have been extremely helpful.
Greetings=20
Fabio
