Noticed a bug today while playing a single player regicide game.
I had several fishing boats operating fish farms offshore by my
fortress. Right near the water's edge I had my usual mill/farms setup.
I didn't have enough wood to load up on "pre-fab" farms at the mill, so
I'd just right-click on a dead farm every time I heard the idle farmer
sound.
After a bit, i heard the 'sh-ch-ch-ch' sound, and hit the idle villager
key to take me to the dead farm. What I got was a villager sitting idle
in the middle of a farm with 176 food left. Nothing I did would
convince the farmer to keep working on that farm. I finally just
killed the farm, and had the peon make a new one. After this happened
3-4 times, with the farms having between 8-300 food remaining, I dumped
all my wood into the mill in hopes that the auto-farm would clear up the
problem. No such luck.
I just happened to notice one of the fishing boats sitting idle.
Usually they show up when you hit the idle villager key after the fish
farm dies out, but this was not happening. They were all clustered near
shore, as near to the farms as they could get. Since I had plenty of
farms, I killed off the fishing boats, and the problem immediately
disappeared.
Has anyone else run across this before? Is there a patch? Or do you
just not let your fishing boats near your land farms? I guess they were
tossing their nets up on land and screwing with the crops.
Running AOE II Gold edition, btw.
TIA,
El Capitan
