Socrates. If you

movie Paper Chase, there is the perfect eg of it in there
It is what they use in law schools to teach
I can summarize it best thus
You teach by giving hypotheses. You give really extreme examples to show
that
generalizations are bad and that there are many ways of looking at
everything. The
teachers never used to ask me any questions in law school. The other
students didn't
really get it. I would always answer by saying how the hell should I know
how the
judge or jury would come out. So the professor wouldn't go any further.
That is why it is law and a grey area. Same with philosophy. That is why
people
disagree. There are many viewpoints and discussing them, by providing
examples is a
good way to learn
