Hi,
I checked this with my Ultimate Doom CD first, and the installed
DOOM.EXE and SETUP.EXE are idententical to the XXDOOM.EXE and XXSETUP.EXE.
So I tried to convert my Doom 2 floppy version into a cd version:
1. Made a clean install of Doom 2 1.9 in a separate folder
2. Copied DOOM2.EXE, DOOM2.WAD and SETUP.EXE to another folder called
DOOM2CD
3. Renamed both EXEs by placing two X at their beginning (XXDOOM2.EXE,
XXSETUP.EXE). This is done to avoid name equality between the BAT files
and the EXE files, and that Setup doesn't call the game exe directly.
4. Copied DOOM.BAT and SETUP.BAT from my Ultimate Doom CD, and changed
everything to Doom 2
DOOM2.BAT:
@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
-cdrom %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
SETUP.BAT
@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
-cdrom
@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Type 'DOOM2' to run DOOM 2 from the CD-ROM.
5. As I saw that also all text files where in the DOOMCD folder of the
Ultimate Doom cd, I added these from Doom 2 too (HELPME.TXT, README.TXT).
6. Burned it to CD-RW, tested it and it works.
While testing I recognized that I suddenly had two DoomData folders on
my C: drive:
DOOM2.BAT / XXDOOM2.EXE (says 1.9) creates C:\DOOMDATA
SETUP.BAT / XXSETUP.EXE (says 1.7) creates C:\DOOMDATA.CD
Did I miss copying another file to the DOOM2CD folder?
Did I anything wrong with the BAT files?
According to the pictures at
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=225
it is correct that the
setup is 1.7 with Doom 2 1.9, otherwise I would be wondering about an
incorrect floppy version.
Thanks for the great help so far
