I just started playing Descent again and found d2x-xl. Wow! Holy freaking
crap, 1200x1600 and as fast as you can imagine! Unbelievable, considering
how slow D1 was when I first played it when it first came out.
Anyway, I have D2 and D1 loaded in d2x-xl and since D1 plays so freaking
well, I decided to play that one first. Now the map works just fine with
D2, press Tab to bring it up, but in D1, I can only get the map by
pressing
Alt F1 and F2 as radar windows. This is not helpful, I need the full map
so
that I can see it and move it around to see where I am going. D1 came on
floppies and I was smart enough to back up the disks on CD and so I can
still play, but I have not manual for that game, or if I did, it is long
gone now. How the heck do you bring up the full automap in D1?
And last question, are there any good walkthroughs around for D1 and D2? I
really cannot find any. A long time ago, Moon had some kind of
Descendarium
page that was freaking awesome with pictures and demos to show where the
secret levels are and how to beat bosses, but I cannot find Moon's site
anymore. Any good maps, walkthroughs, or guides to show where the secret
levels are in a pinch? I try not to use walkthroughs as that is like doing
a crossword puzzle with the answer sheet in front of you, but I really do
not want to miss important stuff like the secret levels. Any good sites or
help out there?
