Invalid Cd-Rom error

Getting Invalid CD-Rom error on Windows XP:
  tried different DVD drive - Result: Invalid CD-Rom error
  tried updating windows - Result: Invalid CD-Rom error
  tried  http://www.descent-3.com/
  Descent3 disk is not damaged
  I am using the right Descent3 CD
  A forum mentioned a NO CD option, but I can't get any information about 
it.
    Does anyone know about this?
