Re: DXX REBIRTH vs D2 XL

I can tell you why I think D2X-XL is better than D2X-Rebirth:

- It has all features the original Descent 2 has, and you can make it
look from totally retro to fully filtered with a simple mouseclick
- It has a lot more features than the original Descent 2 has
- It has a lot optimizations making it run faster than any other
Descent 2 version around
- It is the most mature and stable Descent 2 derivate around (imo it is
even superior to the original game as it fixes that version's bugs)
- It's fully configurable in every aspect
- Yet you can have it show a simplified interface and hide all the
'expert' options you will hardly ever have to fiddle with
- You can play multiplayer games via the UDP/IP protocol, instead of
having to use an auxiliary program like KALI
- It sup****ts two joysticks

Well, my Descent site lists all the fixes and enhancements it contains.

D2X-R is way behind D2X-XL. Both programs started from the same D2X
version, but D2X-XL did so 1 1/2 year before D2X-R. Go figure. ;)
