Echoing what others have said: Catacombs!

To add to that, what I found with my Paladin (although this may not apply
until the 20's, as I used /level and so skipped the levels you are
playing)
is that a Paladin can be quite good at getting auralite (sp?). Find an
instanced dungeon (not a task dungeon--one of the dungeons whose entrance
is
in a regular dungeon, or in the abandoned mines, or in the roman
aqueducts)
that is mostly blues. With your damage add chant to make the fights go
faster, your armor buff chant to reduce your damage, your healing chant,
and
your endurance chant, you should be able to take blues with very little
downtime. So, you can mow through a lot of them, getting a lot of
auralite.

Depending on the monsters you are fighting, and on your equipment, the
best
way to use your chants sometimes is to just pick one and keep it going,
and
at other times it is best to cycle them (taking advantage of the fact that
their durations are quantized to have more than one going at once), and
still other times it is best to be doing one at a time, but change once or
twice during the fight. This is part of the fun of the Paladin.

Also: quests! Visit daoc.warcry.com. Look up quests for your class and
level range. You should be able to find some quests that will give you
good
equipment. At the very least, make sure you look to see what rewards you
will be getting from doing the quests your trainer gives. Nothing sucks
more than struggling for two or three levels to earn gold or auralite to
buy
some nice item, buying it, and then 30 minutes later fini****ng a quest and
getting a nice reward for that slot!

BTW, the effectiveness of armor depends on the slot. A breastplate of a
given AF and absorb percentage provides more protection than gloves of the
same stats. Basically, each peice of armor provides a certain amount of
coverage. The more coverage, the more likely it is to help. It goes like
this:

    Chest 8
    Leg 5
    Sleeves 3
    Helm 2
    Boots 1
    Gloves 1

(Hmmm...I just noticed that is a Fibonacci sequence...I wonder if they did
that for some specific reason, of if it is just coincidence?)
