In my opinion, the greatest asset of CoH is its interface, which is highly

visual and intuitive. Anything you need to know or do is right there, 
slash commands are pretty much done away with. After less than a week, I 
found it hard to come back to DAoC because of the confusing interface. 
That was after playing it for more than two years.  (I got it one month 
after it was released, and has subscribed to it ever since.)

The catacombs engine makes some improvements in the interface, but it 
still has a ways to go to catch up to CoH.  On the other hand the games 
are rather different in atmosphere so I don't see them as direct 
competitors the way EQ and WoW are.  And the good thing is that Mythic has

learned from newer games.  Instanced indoors missions, for instance, were 
a huge hit in City of Heroes, and they are at least as good in Catacombs. 
WoW had bonus xp for people who played infrequently, DAoC has bonus 
levels.  Mythic may be slow learners (look how long it took to admit that 
ToA was a problem) but they do shape up over time.  Clustering, free 
graphics upgrades and the new classic servers make the game age VERY 
gracefully.
