Hehe....so you are finally playing it :)
That is great. About 1 week back, I was playing this game night and
day, everyday. It is the most addicting game I have ever played and I
cannot keep track of time if I start playing it. 6-7 hours seem to
pass by at once and I remember playing this game the whole night more
than once.
I've already finished this game's Imperial Campaign with all major
civs. What civ are you playing right now?
I find all the civs relatively easy now but the easiest has to be the
Greeks (after the Romans, of course). When you are Greek, money seems
to flow in like a river.
After you play it for a while, try doing some crazy stuff with it.
Once I was playing the Julii and I took a boat and landed an army and
a diplomat in Sparta. I took that city and soon, all of the Greek
cities belonged to me. That's where the money is. Then I sent another
boat to Egypt and took that over.
The key is thinking big. If you start micro managing, you are screwed.
I plan 7-8 moves in advance and when it comes time to attack, it's
sort of like a blitzkrieg with more than 9 armies attacking on all
fronts.
Try the diplomacy settings. Diplomacy works great here and you can
earn quite a lot of money through that....
Get archers. Infantry is great but archers (specially highly ranked
archers) are great at cutting down the numbers.
Get cavalry. Cavalry is the key to any battle and are best to flank
the enemy with to destroy morale.
Infantry are the middlemen who keep the fight alive while your archers
and cavalry win the fight.
Unless you're the Romans. Then you can concentrate on archers and
infantry, with 1 or 2 cavalry max.
Any more specific hints? ask me...
