In that case, you may ahve a hardware conflict of some sort.
Open up "MSinfo32" (from the Run menu), and open the Conflicts/Sharing
entry under Hardware Resources. If your audio card, video card, or
hard drive is charing a resource with another device (usually with the
other two items), then you are bound to enter some problem.
Wouldn't be sure exactly how to fix a hardware conflict with plug and
play devices. If you can, it might possible to remove and reinsert
the card in a different available slot (with a standard boot process
between), to force the computer to assign an unused hardware resource.
Other than that, problems with Creative Labs soundcards are generally
hit-or-miss. You can either work around it using the common methods,
or it won't fix at all - as a last resort, you might have to get a new
sound card.
