Allow me to step in and quote from the actual game!
An air****t:
allows the city to airlift 1 land unit per turn
gives +4 additional air unit capacity
gives +3 experience points per new air unit created
adds +1 trade route (here is the extra income!)
adds +1 unhealthy
These stats are from Beyond the Sword. It may be different in Vanilla or
Warlords...
The +1 unhealthy is the only negative to having an air****t. I always
build
them if possible...
