Yes, that's true. That is different now, thank God. But there were things
that they could have done and neglected. I sometimes like to go on playing
after winning, and that simply isn't possible with Colonization. The
mother
coutnry continues to land troops or interfere with ****pping after they
have
officially made peace; you can't trade with Europe and the other civs have
no troops and can't do anything except accept trade with you. And you
can't
found any new cities, and there are no new immigrants.

Stupid beyond description. So was the ability of civs to build a city only
one tile from yours. The city area is small enough as it is.

Heh. True enough; soemtime sone could take over completel cleared areas
from
the Spanish.
In reality, after the Spanish had finished their conquest, there was an
ongoing process of assimilation of Indian villages; when the villages had
achieved a certain degree of Hispanization, they just weren't regarded as
Indians any longer but as common subjects of the crown. This went on until
about the middle of the 18th century; after that, an Indian village
remained
an Indian village regardless of how much it had retained of their original
culture. I suppose a balance of some kind had been achieved.

The same here.
