There is a workaround for the trade thing, but it is a pain. Just
take off the items the AI already has, since they are worthless, and
they'll still accept the trade.

MP works for some people, and there is a relatively simple fix which
so far seems to work (delete the cache, so that all machines start
from new data with a new game).

No, that part doesn't help. Strictly speaking, it isn't Firaxis but
Take 2 that controls patches and patch information.

Some companies put out beta patches. Bug fixes which aren't run
through the full QC but which might help. The reason for sticking
with flawed patches, though, is that even if there are problems, MP
players still have the same version so matchups are possible.

Unofficial and beta patches can make doing so harder. You can't do
competitive games unless everyone has the same version.

Overall, the 3.13 patch is pretty decent. Some of the new bugs
appeared when old bugs were fixed (trading fixed vassal refusal to
trade resources, unfortunately it broke the check on the player's side
of the trade).

I adopted Solver's original unofficial patch early, used the Better
AI mod in warlords, and only put 3.13 on after Bhruic put out the
first unofficial fix. For me, the game seems to work fine.

I know that a lot of people don't want to install an unofficial fix,
and even if they did, don't trust themselves to do it properly even
with detailed instructions. A lot of people don't really want to look
at their files and directories, like they're ****d or something.

OTOH, the unofficial patching community is good at finding bugs and
fixes. Many heads are better than one. I don't know how many
programmers Firaxis is allowed to use on BTS right now, but it isn't
likely to be many. A lot of the problems can be identified by
players, and fixes tested, making the eventual patch better.
