Unfortunately, that patch has some annoying bugs too. Actually, that was
the 
one I was talking about. But as I said, an unofficial patch has been made 
for it, and if you are good and handling that kind of stuff, it apparently

fixes most problems in single player, at least. Unfortunately, I am like
the 
beasts that perish when it comes to handling dll. files and so forth, so 
I'll just put the game aside until there is a new, functional official
patch 
for it.

The publi****ng history is as follows:

Beyond the Sword published.
First official patch, which was crappy.
Second official patch, which broke the game.
A civ fanatic called Solver makes a universally applauded unofficial
patch.
Firaxis publish the third official patch. It includes most of Solver's 
solutions and tweaks but introduces some easily avoidable and frustrating 
new bugs.
A civ fanatic called Bhruic makes a new unofficial patch which has also
got 
much praise, though it doesn't solve the problems for multiplayers.

Both unofficial patches can be found at Civfanatics.com or Apolyon.

And that's where we are at present.
