Charter for alt.games.civ2
Originally maintained by Mike Crowe

Summary:
alt.games.civ2
Microprose Civilization II Discussion
Rationale:
Civilization II is a successful customisable strategy game that runs on
Microsoft Windows 3.1
or later. The newsgroup alt.binaries.games.civ2 also exists but since it
is
a binaries group it
often suffers from large postings unsuitable for users with a dialup
connection. The
newsgroup alt.games.civnet also exists but relates to a different game.
Charter:
This newsgroup is intended to give players of the game Civilization II a
place to discuss the
game. Since the game is customisable it also gives producers of custom
versions a place to
discuss and receive feedback on their customizations.
Discussion Topics:
Discussion is limited to topics related to Civilization II, Civilization
III, and related products
(such as the scenario packs and edits or third part software that is
directly related). In
particular, discussion of tactics, help for beginners and new developments
for the game are
considered to be on-topic. Discussion of so-called sequels such as Alpha
Centauri and Call To
Power is allowed, but newsgroups for both games now exist. They are
alt.games.firaxis.alpha-centauri & alt.games.civ-call-to-power,
respectively.
Test posts are not allowed. Groups such as alt.test or local/ISP test
groups
should be used
instead.
Binary Files:
Since the binary group alt.binaries.games.civ2 already exists binaries
should be posted there
and/or provided via an ftp/www site. Short announcements of the
availability
of such files
could then be posted to alt.games.civ2.
Advertising Policy:
Advertising is in general not welcome. However, short announcements of
products directly
related to Civilization II and its immediate genre will be tolerated.
Job adverts are not welcome.
Moderation:
The group is not moderated.
Notes:
- This charter has been modified slightly from the original proposal in
alt.config in line with
the fact that the newsgroup now exists.
- It has been updated to account for the followups to Civ 2.
- It is posted monthly and is available at
http://civ2.watorrey.net/agc2_charter.html.
