For anyone reading this, I have some advice. I am a professional poker
player,
now playing online rather than live like I used to, so I like to think I
know
what I am talking about.
He makes some ridiculous claims for his $47 ebook, which makes me highly
suspicious. For example, supposedly you will "never" face a bad beat from
a
sucker again. Nonsense. The ONE AND ONLY way to avoid bad beats is to
not
play poker. For those unfamiliar with the terminology, a "bad beat"
occurs
when someone makes a really stupid play, such as calling when the odds of
making their hand are far too low to justify the call. Then they hit
their
miracle card and win a pot that would have been yours if they had folded.
These people are the ones who enable pros such as myself to win. The vast
majority of the time, they add their money to the pot, which I then win.
The
occasional bad beat can be frustrating, especially when you hit a string
of
them (called "running bad" in the trade), but without these suckers I
would
have to go back to cab driving or something. Also, if they NEVER hit
these
miracles, NEVER won a pot, and NEVER had winning sessions, they would stop
playing, and once again I would go back to driving the cab.
Some of his other claims are equally ridiculous.
An excellent start for your poker library is Small Stakes Hold 'em:
Winning
Big With Expert Play by Ed Miller, David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth. At
$24.95
it is about half what this guy is charging, and is available from
www.twoplustwo.com. No, I am not getting a commission for this plug.
