Just curious as to the reasons the videogaming public might think
that. Besides other movies based on videogames having a tradition of
being very bad I mean. A good reason might be because videogames
aren't taken very seriously by Hollywood. But then again comic books
weren't either (Captain America, Fantastic Four, Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles, etc) until the X-Men and Spider-Man movies came out.
Something to think about.
Any other reasons?
BTW, to all the prospective future script writers for a Castlevania
treatment, Van Helsing sucked. Think of the potential opening for a
Castlevania movie franchise at this juncture. Something to ponder yet
again. It just needs a creative person or team to flesh out the story
of the game (past the simple "Oh! My sister was kidnapped by Dracula!
I will go save her!! *Dun-da-da-DUN!" plot). I'm thinking something
based NOT on previous works but on actual mythology history. Oh! And
throw some surprises in there too! Like the Chupacabra! Never seen
that monster in media past that one X-Files episode. A real shame too.
Oh, and no modern dialect and phrases or Castlevania 3000 set in the
far future or stupid shallow attempts at homages to previous monster
movies that just turn the movie into a schlocky camp-fest (Gee! Just
like Van Helsing!), please. Capture the spirit of the VG series and
perhaps influence it out of the glam-goth trend it's heading into now.
