Felt like playing Carma II and installed it on my XP Pro system. Downloaded
the CARMA_HW patch, installed it successfully, and drove around causing
mayhem for a while. Shut down computer, went to bed. Installed nothing
new.
Today, decided to make it to the second mission. Booted the computer,
started Carma. Got the Hardware Setup screen, telling me the same thing it
did yesterday. Made the same selections (Direct 3D) and clicked Launch.
Screen blacked out, there was some activity, then a partial Task Bar
appeared at low res and Windows XP re****ted a problem with CARMA_HW
("needs
to close").
Looked into the problem and found suggestions of virus interference.
Downloaded the latest McAfee updates, did a full scan, found viruses,
cleaned. Rebooted
Carma still crashes upon launch.
Who has any clue what's going on here? Remember, yesterday directly after
install everything worked like a charm...
