Keeping an eye on the minimap also helps. If you know someone is there
and their position and distance to you, you have a huge advantage over
someone who doesn't know you are there.
I use headphones and wouldn't use anything else - it really helps to
have the separation when you are using sound as a direction finder.
I've been called a cheater more time than I can count. But people who
know me know I don't cheat. On a server with special rules like no
mines at the flag, I have planted mines before I knew the rules, but
not after. But I would never use special software, take advantage of
glitches etc. Whats the point?
You can get streaks. Last night I had a 9 kill streak, and then died 5
times in a row. My best streak is 15. I know people I play with often
who have far higher streaks (especially pilots).
Everyone started off a newbie, and everyone starts off with a negative
k/d ratio. Thats the fun part, climbing the learning curve.
