No problem.

FC were doing an all-in-one with NW, SL and AI, get it if you can, it'll
save you a couple of bucks/euros. If not, try http://www.play.com/
if you
are in Europe, or an equivalent in the US, they were selling AI for about
a
fiver.

It is a shame that not many people use the newsgroup, looks like people
are
so used to web-based forums these days that newsgroups aren't getting much
love :-(

The nanofingers usually have a basic nanos you can buy in the basic nano
shop, so they don't really offer an advantage - buy the nano itself, or
blitz the nano instead of the finger.

There are Boosted Grafts and Nano Critters with profession nanos in.
Getting
ones for Reflect (soldier) or Playful Cub or Sparrow Flight (Adv) for run
speed are very useful, as are some AC ones. Once you have them, find
somebody with decent Break and Entry skills to hack it for you (I think
you
need a hacker tool) and it is no longer restricted to a single profession.

This is very useful if you are doing a raid and there isn't a soldier in
the
team, for example, you can still buff yourself a little reflect to help
reduce the damage you are taking.

They will lock a specific nano skill for around 1 hour (which means you
can't use another one based on the same skill for an hour, or perform any
action that requires that skill). NOTE: "Using" the skill isn't the same a
casting a nano. It is a bit like using treatment packs to heal yourself,
it
locks the skill for a short time, but you can still do things like change
implants, you just can't use another treatment pack.

AI: This is disappointing to some people, it is very much aimed at
organisations, solo players won't find much benefit. You need to be in an
Org to get a city (which gives bonuses to skills, depending on what
buildings you have in the city) and you need to have a city to be able to
call aliens for a raid. There are some random raids like the one you
experienced, and above level 180 there are the alien playfields.

Advertising in OOC or in Team Search that you want to do an alien raid
will
sometimes get you picked up to help on a raid - being a good damage dealer
or a doctor will usually make you more attractive to Org looking for a
little sup****t. NOTE: If you are joining a raid, items dropped from
general
mobs are usually free for all, anything dropping from the General or in
the
boss room belongs to the Org, they will distribute it internally first,
then if nobody in the org needs it, they will probably raffle it off to
people in the raid. But check the rules first, some allow free for all
looting and some collect everything that drops... You are there basically
to get your alien XP, and if a weapon you need drops, there is no harm in
asking if you can have it, you might get it, the worse that can happen is
they say no ;-)

Alien Levels = Alien Perks, the more alien perks you have the stronger and
more accomplished your character will be. There are 30 alien levels, but
given the fact that aliens don't give substantially more AIXP in higher
levels, it usually means you will need to kill 10's or 100's of thousands
of aliens to get to the top level. My Adv is around level 16 and has over
5k kills to her name, and it is only at level 15 that the AIXP/Level
starts
to get sills...

Alien Weapons and items: There are plenty of wonderful items out there to
find, the weapons above QL210 are really good and usually out****ne
anything
you can find on RK or in SL, in the lower levels though, they don't really
do that well - depending on your profession. Alien Armour takes a lot of
camping to get the right "bots", and you really need to be in an org to
get
them, they are worth up to several hundred million credits each and will
*always* belong to the org who are hosting the raid - and usually to the
person within the org who brought along the CRU's to charge the control
tower.

If you aren't making a PvP twink, then this isn't really a problem, you
won't really need the armour until you are 200+ - you outgrow it too
quickly to make it worthwhile farming at lower levels. If you make a good
rep for yourself and you need some alien armour to help equip an item,
then
you will probably be able to borrow a couple of items from friends later
on.

As to PvP twinks, there is a lot you can do to make a PvP character, and
it
costs money. If you are serious about PvP, make a character first to earn
yourself some money and learn the game. Making a level 50ish twink costs a
fortune and will take a lot of effort collecting rare items etc. I think
last figure I heard was around 250m credits for a low level PvP twink. And
if you aren't twinked to the nines, you will not be very competitive. :-(

Basically PvP is very broken in AO and to stand a chance you need hundreds
of hours of experience on setting up a character and a bank balance to
match. Casual PvPing can be done, but is usually very disappointing if you
don't find another casual PvPer as opposed to a title farmer...

I'm not saying don't PvP, just if that is what interests you, be prepared
to
spend time learning the game and earning enough money to be competitive.
There are hundreds of threads on the forums on how to PvP, but basically,
you need to use you SL perks wisely and get as many AI levels as you can,
plus the best equipment you can lay your hands on...
