For anybody else who is thinking about re-installing (and if you haven't
deleted it manually already), backup your "prefs" directory before
deleting
the funcom/AO directory.

The Prefs directory holds a sub-directory for each account which has been
played on that machine. Under these, are directories for each character
(pressing ****ft+F9 should give you the character "number" which translates
into the directory number for the character.

In the characters directory is stored information like locations of
backpacks in inventory and bank, names of backpacks, hotbar
configurations,
chat window set-up and locations of all the little windows which you can
open.

You can also copy this directory when you go to visit friends who play and
want to take your characters "with you". Our guild meets a couple of times
a year and if I'm not taking my main gaming PC with me, I take a USB
memory
stick with my prefs in it incase we get around to playing during the party
(or showing configurations or swapping over equipment etc.).

Without the Prefs folder, you won't loose anything, but everything will be
jumbled up again when you log back in...

If you have upgraded any maps, then backing up the
"cd_images\textures\planet map" directory is also useful.
