I did get it working. I found a program called DBGL, a DOS system for
Windows that is a
much improved version of what you have in Windows now (it seems) that was
designed to
work with abandonware games, lots and lots of them. I downloaded it
yesterday (no charge
for it).

You do have to do some setting up for the game to be played (and it can be
set to play a
number of old games in its memory), It took a bit of figuring (d'uh! the
"Send To" icon
is INVISIBLE, so you have to make it visible by changing the folder
settings), but not a
lot.

So I now have CAPTIVE playing just fine on the system. I haven't actually
started
playing yet; I am reading the instructions that came with my original
Amiga version of
the game) and once I am familiar with them, will actually start playing.

I do wish more sites offered manuals and such along with the games. Many
games are just
there, with nothing else to tell you about how to play it. You CAN search
around and
find do***entation elsewhere, on other sites, but it is something of a
pain.

Thanks for the suggestion. I really was edge about using an emulator; I
am sure I would
have the know-now to get it to work and I worry that if I do something
wrong, I am going
to screw up my computer.
