If  you're using Windows, XP or Vista, its built-in mail client (Outlook 
Express for XP, Windows Mail for Vista; both effectively identical)

newsgroups.  You'll need to know what news server to use, which is most 
likely going to be one from your ISP (for example, mine is 
news.east.earthlink.net).  I wouldn't rule out the possibility that you
can 
use any news server you have the address to, but it's generally best to
use 
one that's located in the same region as you.
