Well, if they're born live, call them cubs. If they're hatched, call
them chicks. Or, be like me, and apply my own species' term for them
and call them hatchlings regardless. Yes, I even call human young
hatchlings.

That could work, but only if you can train them to misbehave only in

Yes. I've heard that lizards lay eggs periodically, whether they mate
or not. And during those times, you have to supplement their diets with
extra calcium, as their eggs (and most eggs, I would assume) are mostly
calcium.....
