Okay, so some of you already know I spent a good week-and-a-half overseas
recently. I won't say I didn't enjoy it because some parts were just
fantastic, but there were also parts that were rather shocking.
The flights over were fun. I just love the feeling of taking off when the
engines kick in. Whee! I think it was a grand total of about 7 combined
hours of flying time on two flights with a stop over in Aukland, NZ. Lots
of
turbulance when we came down to land at the air****t in Raro. I mean...
'Get
the whole cabin screaming for their lives' kind of turbulance. It was fun,
if not a little scary considering that we were landing in the pitch of
night
with a tiny runway that lacked the usual lighting of a main air****t.
The weather over there was humid. Amazingly so. Fortunately, none of my
electronics played up and I got some fantastic photos that I'll be
uploading
soon and will link you to.
While overseas, I got to climb a mountain that looked over half the
island,
got to go swimming in crystal clear waters and chase fish while
snorkeling,
drove twice around the whole island, went to the movies over there, got to
see the boat racing... I also learned how to make leis. It was, in
general,
fun. The first two days, however, I was horribly sick since I made the
mistake of driking the water while bru****ng my teeth or something silly
like
that. So once I got over that, I then got pegged with a really nasty bug
that left me in bed for the entire first week, unable to eat solid foods
and
nearly being dragged off to the local hospital with a raging fever. And
once
I got over that, the island got issused a severe cyclone warning. And then
my grandmother got seriously ill and my godfather had 2 heart-attacks. And
the monsoonal rain bucketed down. So I flew home at about 2am there,
waited
7 long hours at the NZ terminal and then came home. A grand total of 42
hours without sleep and sleep-deprived ranting!
