Yes, I'm very aware of Rise of the Titans, but the War of Souls series? 
I think you're mixing concepts here.

And I don't buy the "Tracy came up with it, so that's ok" notion you're 
applying to it, either.

Ahh, that easy, is it?

Sorry, but I'm obviously not into the whole "Let's piss on the 5th Age 
because it's easy to do".

I think there were plenty of great ideas for the 5th Age/SAGA material, 
and while some were executed poorly, that's no excuse for dumping the 
rest. The notion that doing so would 'unite the fan base' always has 
been and always will be pretty laughable.
