Okay, I'm probably going to get a kick in the ****ns for this, but I
thougtht Elistan was really under developed. MW and TH have said on
many occasions that Elistan was nearly left out in many of the books.
Margaret felt that he was simply too much of a goody-to-shoes. I
think given the right internal angst, Elistan could be a very powerful
and compelling character.
For example
What if Elistan was a very flawed man, and found his faith in the end
of the War of the Lance.
What if he was seeking political gain when he sided with Goldmoon?
What if he was not the devout clerical leader that Laurana thought he
was?
What if he really did have romantic feelings for Laurana (and Tanis
was completely justified in being jealous of their association)
What if he wanted to the elves and humans go to war to see them all
punished for being arrogant idiots.
What if all this was causing him angst because he's desperately trying
to find good and he discovers that he's being tempted by Takhisis to
betray Laurana and everyone else during the war of the lance?
