Bite your tounge Frank! My namesake was there. ; ) Which is coincidentally
why I am asking the question in the first place.

Hmm, I remember that the Silvanaes were displaced Ansalonians, but I
thought
it was during one of the Dragon Wars that they got lost. I really don't
like
the idea of them losing their way during their flight from the
dragonarmies
during the WotL either, for the reasons you cited.

I remember hearing this too, but I have no idea where I heard it.

Where exactly *were* the Dragonarmy lines during this time period? Good
point about them having to cross them though.

I agree. I also think that such a powerful magic spell is decidedly not in
keeping with the overall "feel" of the DL setting.

Again, good points. I had some vague notion that there may have been some
kind of underground railroad thing going on, but considering that the
entire
elven nation migrated, it seems unlikely. I suppose at least -some- of the
elves could have fled in that manner however.

I imagine their ****ts were heavily policed to keep the non-elven elements
within a strictly enforced designated area... the more I think about the
exodus, the more I think it would have had to have been accomplished in a
variety of ways, incor****ating all of the methods already discussed. I
think
the bulk would have had to have been by sea however.

I was under the impression it was because of the Kagonesti who already
resided there.
