This SP sourcebook Legends of the Twins has piqued my interest... Exploring
alternate timelines of the DL setting! I love it! I'm such a sucker for
alternate realities.
So how's this for an idea...
Create a line of novels set in a DL timeline where the 5th Age never
happened. As a matter of fact, let's just start this alternate timeline at
the end of the Blue Lady's War and take it from there, exploring the world
that was in greater detail. Let's have both novel and game products
produced
over the course of say... 5 years solely about this one alternate
timeline.
The main rules for this alternate timeline is that no one ever cracks open
the Greygem, the world is never visited by uber dragons from outer space,
and the other gods of the pantheon get equal screen time... Oh, and no
decade leaps forward in the timeline.
At the same time, let's produce an equal amount of novel and game products
for the "main" DL timeline, covering whatever points of interest there are
for a post 5th Age world.
At the end of the 5 years, whoever has sold better of the two timelines
gets
to become the "main" DL timeline. Assuming there is still an interest for
whichever timeline who sells less, their stories could still be sold under
and alternate timeline imprint.
